Béla Bartók visited Keszthely in September 1906, the second year of his folk song collecting tour, and stayed there with János Szeless, the estate manager, in his steward's house in Újmajor. During his stay in Keszthely and its surroundings he collected 41 folk songs, one of the best known being "Csillagok, csillagok, szépen ragyogjatok" ("Stars, stars, twinkle bright").
