Ádám Pálóczi Horváth, the famous poet and agriculturist of his time, was an enthusiast of Lake Balaton. He was the first to call the lake the "Hungarian Sea" and regularly wrote poems about it. At the end of the 18th century Pálóczi decided to build this castle, today serving as a music school, in order to be as close as possible to his treasure, Lake Balaton.
