Festetics Imre Zoo

IThe Experience Centre consists of two sections: the House of Nature Visitor Centre and the Imre Festetics Animal Park. House of Nature: Discovering nature between four walls? Yes! Despite the obvious contradiction, it is an exciting program for the whole family to get to know the wildlife of the Keszthely Mountains without having to go on a hiking trip. You can discover small mammals, mushroom species, insects, trees and bushes, relief models, both in interactive and traditional form. Imre Festetics Animal Park: Imre Festetics was the brother of György, the founder of Georgikon, and it seems that interest in biology was a family tradition. György founded an agricultural school, and Imre was involved in sheep breeding. He summarised his findings in an article that was published in an agricultural magazine. His observations practically turned out to be the basic genetic laws of nature. He was the first expert to use the word genetics.
