A short tour in the southern Lake Balaton area with a small elevation gain which makes it particularly suitable for older, not quite so fit cyclists.
The route takes only a few hundred metres on unpaved roads and can therefore be cycled all year round.
The tour can also be combined with a train ride between Balatonfenyves and Somogyszentpál on the narrow-gauge railway, however it is advisable to arrange for the transport of the bicycle in advance with them.

2. Difficulty factors in the tour
Between Kéthely and Balatonmáriafürdő the trail runs on public roads except for a few shorter stretches.
The route crosses the main road 7 at Balatonkeresztúr, please ride with extra caution there.
Drinking water sources are limited on the tour so make sure you head out carrying full water bottles.
3. Ambience
If anyone at all, children understand the metacommunication of the world around them better than anybody else. They feel exactly where it is good to be, what they need to pay attention to among the many details. This one-day, year-round rideable circuit was planned for children. Each of the stops offers something (also) for them: they can look for the traces of a former castle, can find out in a fire museum what the old objects were used for, or count the ships in a beautiful marina. On the shoreline of Lake Balaton there is plenty to do, whether in the water or - in cooler weather - on the coast: collecting shells, watching swans, or discovering wildlife on the promenade Csicsergő. As soon as you finish the route, which runs mostly on low-traffic, paved roads, the magic of Somogy will certainly touch not only children but also adults - the most important is being together in a good place at the right time.

A föld utas rész miatt azt mondanám, hogy csak száraz időben járható, esős időben azon a szakaszon érhetik meglepetések az embert. Balatonújlak után sajnos elhittük, hogy bicikli út vezet át az M7-es felett, ott sajnos az út véget ért kb két méterrel a főút előtt, így a korláton kellett átemelni a bicikliket. Balatonkeresztúron mi a zebrán áttoltuk a biciklit és egyből lementünk a part fele a Balatont kerülő bicikliútra.
8 és 10 éves gyerekekkel nagy csalódás volt ez a túra. A mezőgazdasági út nehezen járható, vastag por állagú homokkal fedett kilométereken át. A kis 20-as, 24-es biciklikkel kínszenvedés volt a gyerekeknek tekerni rajta. A ruháinkat, cipőinket, a bicikliket, a biciklire szerelt kulacsokat vastag por réteg borította, mire elértünk a Nyugati- övcsatornához. A látnivalók átlagosak, semmi érdekesség.
Kis eltéréssel (lásd lejjebb) általam évek óta használt útvonal. Elsősorban a nyugalma és a gazdag állatvilága miatt. A leírását szeretném kiegészíteni azzal, hogy a túra Balatonfenyvesen is keresztezi a 7-es főutat. A leírással ellentétben a Somogyszentpál-Kéthely szakaszon is kis forgalmú közúton kell haladni. Kéthelyen a közút állapota az elmúlt évben jelentősen leromlott, különösen a kerékpárosok szempontjából fontos széleken. A nagy tehergépkocsi forgalom miatt családoknak a járda javasolt. Természetesen fokozott figyelemmel a gyalogosokra. Update 2023.11.25-én: A két utóbbi véleményt csak megerősíteni tudom. a földutas rész esős időben GYALOG is járhatalan. Egy fatbike-kal csak az út melletti szántásban, vagy az erdősávban, a fák között tudtam haladni. Szörnyű volt, pedig azt a járgányt erre találták ki, de a felszedett sárral semmilyen kerékpár nem tud megbírkózni. Mindezek miatt javaslom, hogy az illetékesek oldják meg valahogy a kisvasút hídjának használhatóságát Pálmajornál. Az az útvonal bármilyen időjárási körülmények között használható, a híd után 200 méterrel kezdődő, bitumennel szórt makadámút. A kisvasút hídja most ugyan átkelésre alkalmas, de életveszélyes a vasúti forgalom miatt. Kéthelyen az úttest rendkívül rossz állapotban van, a kerékpárosoknak már nem biztonságos. Jó hír is van: Az M7-es feletti átkelő elkészült, biztonságos. Nincs már több bringaemelés. Marcalitól Balatonmáriafürdőig a települések között már végig kerékpárúton lehet haladni.
