On the border of three counties – Mezőföld and “Somogyland”– blue A/B

1. Route description, explanation of signs
A long tour with relatively few and easy climbs in the southern Lake Balaton area. A particularity of the route is that certain stretches run on the mostly grassy dams of the Sió Canal.
The tour is also very diverse in terms of road type, as cycle paths, low-traffic public roads, agricultural roads and water dams are alternating on the trail. Two-thirds of the route is on paved roads and one-third on unpaved paths, with the unpaved sections being either grassy or sandy and therefore rideable almost all year round.

2. Difficulty factors in the tour
The tour includes public road sections between Siójut and Ádánd, Pélpuszta and Szabadhídvég, as well as Mezőkomárom and Lajoskomárom, please ride with extra caution on these sections.
Between Lajoskomárom and Ozora, the ruts in the sand become deeper in dry weather, making this stretch difficult to ride with slim bike tyres.
There are not many shady sections on the tour, so in hot weather it is recommended to plan the ride for the morning and late afternoon.
Drinking water sources are limited on the tour so make sure you head out carrying full water bottles.

3. Ambience
Sometimes it is well worth turning your back on Lake Balaton and setting out for a tour. During this 90-kilometer circuit, which runs through the Mezőföld landscape and along the edge of Somogy County, you can truly relax - the horizon widens along the Sió River, and the vineyards and brook valleys make sure that the view never gets boring. Sand or dirt, grass and gravel sections make the mostly paved route even more interesting and varied. You will ride along the Sió for a long time, and the river rewards with a refreshing breeze and a variety of fauna. The pace changes along the different stretches, and there is always something different to discover: the flora and fauna of the fields, the river as you ride along the Sió dam, and the ambience of the former estates in the municipalities. Subconsciously, you will experience a lot even if you hardly stop on the way: the scenery, the colours and pictures complement the ride. On the route through three counties of Hungary: Fejér, Somogy and Tolna the settlements follow each other in a good rhythm, so you can complete the route with several stops.
